Community Networking – FAQs

1. How can I make the most of the Teacher Horizons Community Networking platform?

Make the most of Community Networking by actively connecting and engaging with other teachers. You can search for members by location, school, subject, or region, and reach out directly to ask questions, share advice, or arrange meet-ups. Participate in conversations, collaborate on shared interests or projects, and learn from others’ experiences.

It’s a great way to grow your professional network, expand your visibility within the community, and feel more connected to teachers and leaders around the world. We also welcome your feedback, it helps us continue improving the platform and shaping new features that serve the community better.

2. What is the difference between my community profile and candidate profile?

Your Community Profile is what other members can see on the community networking platform. What information is visible depends on both your and the viewer’s settings, as well as the connection level between you. It includes two tabs: Summary and Network. The Summary tab displays your information, while the Network tab shows other community members in your network. You’ll also see each person’s connection level displayed on their profile card.

Your Candidate Profile, on the other hand, is visible only to schools and Teacher Horizons advisers. It highlights your professional experience and qualifications to help match you with job opportunities. For example, your CV and references are never included in or visible through your Community Profile.

3. What details of my profile are visible to others? Can I control this?

The following details from your profile are visible to other members. To learn when your full or limited visibility profile is shown, see the next question about settings.

Currently, there isn’t an option to customize what’s visible on your profile.

4. What are open, limited and closed settings?

There are different settings available for you that will determine how you interact with the network. The table below has details of all the different settings. We recommend choosing ‘open’ settings to make the most of the network and build connections and interact with other community members.
You can access these settings by clicking ‘Settings’ in the hamburger menu.

Please note, when your community settings are set to ‘closed’, new connections that you add can see your community profile. In the ‘closed’ setting, everyone except your 1st connections will see your limited visibility profile. In the ‘limited’ setting, everyone except your 1st and 2nd connections will see your limited visibility profile.

Open (recommended) View, connect with and message all community members (who are open access) and community members and view and message you.
Limited View and message your 1st and 2nd connections only. Members outside your extended network cannot view or message you.
Closed View and message your 1st connections only. Members outside your closed network (1st connections only) cannot view or message you.
No Access You cannot view, connect with or message anyone, and no one can view, connect with or message you.
5. How do I report an issue in case someone in the community is bothering me?

If you would like to report an issue related to using the Community Networking platform, whether it is related to another community member or not, you can do so by clicking on the flag icon in the top right corner of the left side of the page. This will lead you to a simple google form where you can explain your issue.

6. What can my connections see on my profile?

Your connections will always see your full visibility profile. It looks almost the same as how you see your own profile, except for a few sections such as your profile strength and the community level progress bar.
